#1. be동사 ( am / is / are )

He is busy. (그는 바쁘다)

He is in his room. (그는 방에 있다)

 

They are college students.

They are at schoo..

[ 문법1 ]

 

'~이다'라는 의미로 말할 때 be동사 am / is / are를 쓴다. 일상 대화헤서는 I'm, he's 등과 같이 축약된 형태로 더 자주 쓴다.

 

I'm

he/she/it 's

we/you/they 're

 

I'm 21 years old.

He's Spanish.

The windows are open.


[ 문법2 ]

 

'(~에)있다'라는 의미로 말할 때도 am / is /are 를 쓴다.

이때 am / is / are 뒤에 here, in tho lobby 등과 같이 장소를 나타내는 표현을 함께 쓴다.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Peterson are here. They're in the lobby.

I'm at the cafe.

It's on the 20th floor.

The cookies are in the oven.

am / is / are의 부정문과 의문문은 다음과 같이 사용한다.

일상 대화에서는 부정문은 'm not, isn't 등과 같이 축약형으로 더 많이 사용한다.

 

I am not (= m' not)
He / She / It is not (= 's not 또는 isn't )
We / You / They

1. Daniel is a painter. He's on a hill.

2. Sarah And Julia are nurses. They're in a cafeteria.

3. Betty is a reporter. She's in a helicpoter.

4. Marvin is a soldier. He's at the airport.

5. Jim and Alan are baseball players. They're on a bench.

1. "The post office is on 2nd Avenue." "OK. Thanks."

2. I can't find my keys. They are in my bag.   They aren't in my bag.

3. "What's wrong?" "I'm not happy with my exam results."

4. Jane is at the theater. She is watching a movie with her friends.

5. Ella and Emma are twins, but they don't look the same.

6. David isn't Chinese. He's from Korea.

1. My brother is in high school. He's 17 years old.

2. Johnny and Robert are in Seattle right now.
